About Rutherglen 900?

Rutherglen 900 is a community-led initiative created to celebrate the Rutherglen’s 900th anniversary. It is built on collaboration between local people, local organisations, schools, community groups and volunteers — all working together to honour Rutherglen’s rich cultural legacy and bright future.

How it started

The idea for Rutherglen 900 grew from conversations in the community — a desire to reflect on who we are, where we’ve come from, and where we’re going. Planning began in 2023, with a small group of local partners mapping out a programme that would reflect the town’s diversity and history.
