Organise your own event

You can organise your own event as part of the Rutherglen 900 celebrations. This is an opportunity for you to create an event as part of this landmark moment in Rutherglen’s history. Your event doesn’t have to be a new idea; it can be something that your group already does which you’d like to host as part of the celebrations.

Volunteer with Rutherglen 900!

Rutherglen 900 is looking for local people to volunteer at the various events happening across the year. Events will be held within the venues on the main street such as Rutherglen Library and Town Hall as well as various community centres across Rutherglen. Our aim is to create a group of volunteers that can work together, support each other and feel proud of being part of their home town’s celebrations.

We now have a full team of wonderful volunteers and are not currently taking volunteer applications

Community Contributions Fund

We have had a number of successful applications for the Community Contributions Fund which is now closed. Congratulations to all the successful groups and their projects!

The Community Contributions Fund was open to any community group or organisation within Rutherglen. They could apply for funding up to £200 for an event or project. The proposals that best aligned with our aims received a grant and became part of the 2026 Rutherglen 900 programme.

The aim of Rutherglen 900 is to create a programme that is accessible to and specific to the communities of Rutherglen. We want to invest in a legacy, connect communities, promote creativity, amplify young people’s voices, empower individuals and community groups, develop relationships with partners and stakeholders, build community locally and nationally, and to work towards shaping the future.
