The young people from Springhall Kid’s Club will be transforming their community hub into a public artwork in 2026 with help from graffiti artist, Tragic O’Hara. The young people will be learning new skills in art-making processes, drawing and painting over the 8 week project which will begin in the Spring.
Tragic O’Hara is an author, artist, sculptor, musician, podcaster, film-maker and community engager. He has years of experience as a youth worker and with the creative industries. He didn’t have a traditional path to creativity, but has built solar-powered robotic jellyfish sculptures in Greenock, painted gable ends all over Scotland, written a book called A Practical Guide to Walrus Chasing and started a podcast called Confessions of a Walrus Chaser.
The completed public artwork will be unveiled in June 2026 as part of the Rutherglen 900 programme. This project has been developed in partnership with Healthy N Happy Community Development Trust.
