Radical Glasgow Tours are branching out into South Lanarkshire with a tour of Radical Rutherglen!
Our tours remember the lives and stories of folk who have organised in their communities, and stood up against oppression. There are too many street names and monuments to royals, aristocrats, merchants and millionaires. We believe history looks different when told from the streets. We tell these stories to build strength in the belief that better worlds are possible – remembering the old trade union motto: “The past we inherit, the future we build”
On our walk around Rutherglen we’ll be talking about the International Brigade, the Temperance Movement, Rent Strikes, Lord Overtoun’s Poisonous Legacy, and the Ballads Club – among others!
