Join the Rutherglen 900 Historical Walk on Sunday 21 June 2026, starting at 11:00am from Rutherglen Library.
As part of the celebrations marking 900 years of the Royal Burgh of Rutherglen, the walk offers an opportunity to explore the town’s rich heritage and learn about some of the notable people connected with Rutherglen’s long history. The Rutherglen 900 programme includes a range of heritage and its important place in Scottish history.
Discover stories of local figures, historic landmarks, and the development of the town from its Royal Burgh status granted in 1126 through to the present day.
A great chance to celebrate Rutherglen’s 900th anniversary while discovering the famous folk and fascinating stories that have shaped the town over nine centuries.
We will stop for a break half way through the walk for refreshments at Eatalia Kitchen, 243 Main Street, Rutherglen.
